Bodies and Souls By Frank Cordelle
Bodies and Souls – Puberty is a chilling prospect as well as physical blemishes, and the idea of reaching old age.
Though such fears affect both sexes, girls and women seem to be the prime recipients of these worries. It takes a particular man to help ease the possible insecurities that females feel.
Enter photographer Frank Cordelle, who has received praise and recognition for his bold pictures of females of ages. What’s really given his work attention isn’t that it is girls of most ages, from birth to old age, but that they may be taken in the nude. But these aren’t super models.
These are girls with blemishes and handicaps, in the very young to the old and wrinkled. Some are fat and a few are skinny. And an amazing body of his work continues to be contained in a book entitled Bodies and Souls: The Century Project.
Bodies and Souls is a most stunning piece of work, filled with girls from all walks of life.
The book starts out, just as it states, with a arrival. We then move on to kids, to , to young adults, to middle age, reasoned by a ninety-four year old lady. While some girls would fit into society’s definition of appealing, there are a lot who wouldn’t. Some are lost breasts, some have scars, some are fat and aside from the physical attributes, some have emotional baggage in which they are weeping in the photos (This process, it works out, helps them fix).
A number of these young girls and women also have written their testimonies in the novel, saying how such a project continues to be valuable and helpful for their mental wellbeing. Some of the stories are humorous and lighthearted, others heartbreaking, but these express a profound sense of gratitude to Cordelle for letting them be part of the project.
Many people have been taken aback and surprised to see such candid photographs of real girls. Some have a hard time managing it. How often is it that society is requested to accept the body of an overweight girl who are naked no less, or of a nude woman in a wheelchair?
Stripping away the clothing actually does help the viewer to see and accept them as real people.
I’ve regularly been disgusted with the way women are treated in society. Derogatory remarks, pornography, and other unhealthy ways we treat women are not great for their self esteem, nor could it be great for society. It is imperative to remember they are our mothers, daughters, sisters and wives.
By stripping these girls with blemishes, nude and bare, the photographer continues to be able to help us identify with them more , in addition to the models identifying together.
Naturists, who are often promoters in the philosophy of “everybody is amazing,” will find much to appreciate about that fine work of art as it strengthened their already aforementioned convictions. Every naturist should have a copy of the book in his or her personal library.
Cordelle has given the world a great gift with this novel full of hope and comprehension. I can only just hope that more people will peruse its pages, reading the wonderful messages of hope from females of most ages and all walks of life.
